Datejust Turn-O-Graphは、デイトジャストのエレガンスに回転ベゼルという実用機能を融合した、ロレックスの歴史の中でも独特な存在である。Turn-O-Graphの系譜は1950年代に始まり、米国空軍アクロバット飛行隊「Thunderbirds」との関係から、“Thunderbird”の愛称で知られるようになった。Ref.1625はその後継世代として、1959年頃から1970年代まで製造されている。
最大の特徴は回転ベゼル。クラシカルなデイトジャストの造形にスポーツウォッチとしての機能性を加えながら、オイスターケース、サイクロップレンズ付きデイト表示、自動巻きというロレックスらしい構成を備えている。
この時代のRef.1625には1500系自動巻ムーブメントが採用され、初期個体ではCal.1560を搭載した実例も確認されている。ドレスウォッチの品格とツールウォッチの機能をひとつにまとめた、ヴィンテージロレックスならではの個性的なモデルである。
ドレスにもスポーツにも完全には属さない。その絶妙な立ち位置こそ、Thunderbird最大の魅力である。
デイトジャストの歴史に残る、最も個性的なバリエーションのひとつ。
