UNIVERSAL GENEVE POLEROUTER 20214 Gold Filled 1950s

Introduced in 1954 to commemorate Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS)’s historic trans-Arctic flights, the Polerouter remains one of the most celebrated creations of Universal Genève.

The present example is an early Ref. 20214-4, representing one of the first references of this iconic model.

The dial features the characteristic stepped inner chapter ring with five-minute graduations. Originally finished with a glossy surface, it has naturally aged over the decades, developing a soft matte appearance that gives the watch a unique and refined character.

The gently raised center section is complemented by elegant crosshair lines, creating a clean architectural balance. Sharp dauphine hands complete the design, combining excellent legibility with timeless elegance.

The case is distinguished by its beautifully sculpted twisted lugs, one of the defining characteristics of the early Polerouter. Their flowing profile gives the watch a distinctive three-dimensional presence on the wrist.

Minor signs of age are visible on the case, consistent with careful vintage use, with no distracting damage. The luminous material has aged naturally, blending harmoniously with the overall character of the watch and enhancing its authentic vintage appeal.

The watch is fitted with a gold-filled expansion bracelet from the 1960s–1970s, suitable for wrist sizes of approximately 17cm to 18.5cm.

A period 14mm buckle showing signs of age is included.

The movement has been fully serviced by our workshop and is currently running with an average daily deviation of approximately +15 seconds.
