SEIKO "Roman Textured" Dial Two-Tone 1990s

A slim, quiet dress watch made by Seiko in the 1990s. The dial pairs black Roman numerals with gold baton markers, and its centre carries a fine woven texture that catches the light differently from the smooth outer ring. Inside is the Cal.V701, a three-hand quartz movement, so there is nothing to wind and it keeps steady time on a single battery. It comes on its original SEIKO two-tone bracelet, which suits a shirt and jacket as easily as a knit at the weekend.

The case is plated base metal in two tones, with a gold bezel and a stainless steel caseback. There are scratches from use on the case and bracelet, but no major damage. It measures 32mm across (excluding crown) and 38mm lug to lug, with a 10mm lug width, and the bracelet fits a wrist of up to 17cm. The lugs flow straight into the bracelet, so the watch and bracelet read as one continuous line on the wrist.

The dial is original. Roman numerals sit at the even hours and gold batons at the odd ones, inside a black railway minute track. The woven centre frames the SEIKO name and gives the dial depth without adding any colour. Under direct light the centre glitters slightly while the outer ring stays smooth and pale, so the dial looks a little different from every angle.
