OMEGA De Ville Silver Dial 1970s

Introduced by OMEGA in 1967 as a line of its own, De Ville came to represent the maison's purest expression of dress watchmaking, separated from the sportier Seamaster and defined instead by thinness and proportion. This example is distinguished by its cushion-shaped stainless steel case and a two-hand dial that carries no seconds register at all. The result is a watch reduced to the essentials, where nothing on the dial exists that does not tell the time.

The case measures 30mm across excluding the crown and 37mm from lug to lug, a compact footprint that sits flat and close to the wrist. Its softly squared silhouette is worked entirely in polished stainless steel, with broad bevelled flanks that catch light across their full length. There is no bezel to speak of and no ornament anywhere on the case, which allows the dial to take center stage.

The dial is a warm silver, its surface carrying the faint patina of age rather than the flat brightness of a modern finish. Slim applied baton markers ring the perimeter, matched by needle-thin hands in blackened steel, and the OMEGA signature sits above a delicate script De Ville at six. Under angled light the silver shifts toward champagne, and the absence of a seconds hand leaves the field unusually quiet.

Powering the watch is a manually wound movement, the slim calibre family that made this generation of De Ville possible. It has been checked and is running correctly. The daily ritual of winding reinforces the connection between the wearer and the mechanism within.

Completing the watch is a black leather strap, carefully matched to complement the polished steel case and preserve its classic aesthetic. It is not original to the watch and fits wrists up to 18cm. The lug width measures 18mm.
