ROLEX Air-King 6552 1st Generation Original Warm Patina Dial 1958s

Among vintage Rolex automatic models, the Air-King has long remained one of the most desirable.

The Ref. 6552 represents the first generation of the automatic Air-King, produced until approximately 1958. Today, examples that retain their original condition have become exceptionally difficult to find.

The first feature to capture the eye is its beautifully aged off-white dial.

It is fitted with sharply pointed alpha hands and a heat-blued central seconds hand, a combination that perfectly reflects the refined character of the early Air-King.

The Rolex coronet differs from later production, while the “ROLEX” signature is executed in applied raised lettering, preserving details unique to this early period.

The applied hour markers have developed a soft golden patina over time, creating the warm vintage character that collectors seek in watches from the 1950s.

Having handled numerous Air-King references over the years, we can confidently regard this example as one of the more distinctive pieces to pass through our collection.

Fitted to the watch is a period-correct Rolex three-link riveted bracelet with FF60 end links, manufactured during the second production period of 1957. The 12-link bracelet accommodates wrists of approximately 19cm.

The watch has been fully serviced by our workshop and is currently running with an average daily deviation of approximately +15 seconds, reflecting a well-preserved and reliable example of this early Air-King.
