The story
About this watch
Timegrapher +3s/d 226° 2.0ms
A remarkable mid-1960s Rolex Day-Date, combining the warmth of an 18K rose gold case with a deeply aged dark dial and the unmistakable presence of the model’s signature day-and-date display.

The dial has developed a rich, almost charcoal-brown appearance, creating a dramatic backdrop for the applied Rolex coronet, gold-tone baton hour markers, and matching hands. Its aged surface carries subtle variations in tone and texture, giving the watch a character that feels distinctly individual rather than uniformly preserved.

One of the most compelling details is the Spanish-language day wheel at 12 o’clock, shown here displaying “MARTES.” At 3 o’clock, the date is enlarged beneath the Cyclops lens. Together, these two calendar indications create the characteristic Day-Date layout while the Spanish day disc adds an especially appealing period detail.

The 18K rose gold case brings warmth to the otherwise dark composition. Its smooth bezel, sculpted lugs, and substantial Oyster-style profile contrast beautifully with the black leather strap, allowing the unusual dial and rose-gold case to remain the visual focus.
More than sixty years after its creation, the appeal of this Day-Date lies in the combination of materials, aging, and detail: warm rose gold, a dark patinated dial, and a Spanish calendar display. Rather than presenting the pristine uniformity of a modern watch, it carries the unmistakable individuality that only decades of time can produce.
Rose gold, a darkened dial, and the language of another era.
