OMEGA De Ville Silver Brushed Dial Quartz 1970s

The De Ville has carried OMEGA's dress watch philosophy since the late 1960s, and by the middle of the 1970s the line had taken up quartz without surrendering any of its restraint. This example is distinguished by a stainless steel case and a silver dial finished in a fine brushing that shifts quietly with the light.

The case measures 33.5mm across excluding the crown and 40mm from lug to lug, its softly squared silhouette tapering from a flat bezel into short integrated lugs. Brushed flanks meet polished edges without ornamentation of any kind, which allows the dial to take center stage. Light scratches along the bezel and case edges record five decades of wear.

The dial is silver with a fine brushed finish, carrying slender applied baton markers blackened for contrast and a matching set of hands. A date aperture sits at 3 o'clock within a gold-tone frame, the single warm accent on an otherwise monochrome face. DE VILLE QUARTZ is printed below center in Omega's clean type.

At its heart is OMEGA's Caliber 1342, one of the brand's earliest in-house quartz movements, fitted with 7 jewels and produced from the middle of the 1970s into the early 1980s. Its hour hand can be moved independently of the minutes, a convenience built for crossing time zones years before that became commonplace.

Completing the watch is OMEGA's original milanese mesh bracelet, signed at the clasp with the brand's logo and meeting the case at 20mm. It fits a wrist of up to 20cm.
