SEIKO CREDOR Silver Stripe Dial Quartz 1987

A rectangular dress watch from Credor, the line Seiko launched in 1974 for its finest watches, made in May 1987. The silver dial is cut with fine vertical stripes that catch the light in thin lines, and the gold-toned markers and hands add a warm accent against the steel. Inside is the quartz Cal.7771, a three-hand movement made for Credor, so there is nothing to wind. It comes on a vintage expanding metal bracelet that slips on without a clasp, which makes it as easy to wear every day as it is with a suit.

The case is stainless steel. There are light marks from use but no major damage. It measures 27.5mm across (excluding crown) and 35mm lug to lug, with an 18mm lug width. A polished bezel frames the dial, and the bracelet runs straight out of the case, so the watch reads as one clean line on the wrist. At this size it slips neatly under a shirt cuff.

The dial is the original silver stripe dial, signed with the Credor mountain emblem and CREDOR beneath it. Thin gold-toned baton markers sit at each hour, with matching gold-toned hands. As the watch turns, the stripes shift from bright silver to soft grey, and the gold markers stay easy to read against either.
